Located
in the southeastern corner of Westchester County, the town of Pelham occupies
a two and one-half square mile area bordered on the south by New York City and
on the east by the Long Island Sound. To many of its 14,000 residents, the town
offers an ideal mix of two worlds – the quiet tree-lined residential streets
of a small school-oriented suburb and the many cultural, educational, and business
opportunities of Manhattan, only 16 miles away.
The citizens of The Pelhams have access to sandy beaches, golf courses, tennis courts, swimming pools and woodlands for hiking, fishing, camping, picnicing and bicycling.
Many year-round programs are available through the Pelham Recreation Commission. Arts and Crafts, as well as other programs, such as basketball, bowling and ice-skating are participated in by young and old alike.
Pelham has a number of private clubs including The Pelham Country Club and well known Travers Island, owned by The New York Athletic Club.
